Anyim means future in Lwo.

Lwo is the language spoken by the Acholi people in Northern Uganda. They
have been the victims of civil war between the Ugandan Defence Forces and the Rebel group known as the Lord's
Resistance Army (LRA) for over twenty years.
As we speak, the conflict in Northern Uganda has faded out as the LRA left the country,
leaving behind a scarred population.

ANYIM is attempting to assist these individuals in looking forward to building a brighter future. ANYIM, as an organization, was created in August 2009 in Gulu itslef. Moved by the resilience and strength present in the Acholi community, ANYIM volunteers came together in order to continue partaking in the recovery process of this war-torn region.

ANYIM contacted a co-operative of vulnerable women named "Hearts of Hope" who create dazzling environmentally-friendly jewelry. A partnership was then created between both organisations whereby ANYIM purchases jewelry from the women and fairly pays them from the proceeds of the sales. Markets extend from various cities worldwide such as Montreal to Hong Kong or Geneva to Beirut. All profits are channelled back to the community in Gulu through several educational projects ANYIM is engaged in.
